Faith, history, and tradition for the 321st anniversary of the discovery of the Sacred Image.

Capurso is preparing to experience one of the most heartfelt and identifying events in its history: the Patronal Feast of the Madonna del Pozzo 2026, scheduled on 28, 29, 30 and 31 August, with the traditional Octave of the Feast Sunday September 6th. A particularly significant edition that celebrates the 321st anniversary of the discovery of the Sacred Image of the Madonna del Pozzo, a symbol of faith, devotion and belonging for the entire community.

The event is promoted by Parish of SS. Salvatore – Patron Saint Festivals Committee, From Parish San Francesco da Paola, From Basilica Madonna del Pozzo and from City of Capurso, with a rich religious, cultural and musical programme capable of involving citizens, pilgrims and visitors.

The celebrations will kick off on Friday, August 28th, with the switching on of the traditional lights that will illuminate the city center, the marching band, and the solemn procession of the painting of the Madonna from the chapel in Largo Piscino to Piazza Umberto I, accompanied by the Amici della Musica Musical Association . The evening will conclude with the Disco Night musical performance.

Saturday August 29th in the evening the City Band Concert Conversano will precede the great pyromusical show “A Well of Stars”, one of the most anticipated events of the entire festival.

The highlight will be Sunday August 30, the central day of the patronal celebrations. The program includes the traditional morning Diana, the procession of the authorities with the participation of the Mayor Michele Laricchia, of the civil and military authorities and of the Patron Saint Festivals Committee. The Solemn Eucharistic Celebration, chaired by Monsignor Bruno Varriano, Auxiliary Bishop of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, and the solemn procession of the Sacred Image of the Madonna del Pozzo through the streets of the city.

Throughout the day there will be the Concerto Bandistico Città di Bisceglie , the evocative return of the Sacred Image to the Sanctuary, the traditional passage of the Triumphal Chariot accompanied by the Historical Procession , up until the midnight fireworks display which will conclude the most solemn day of the festival.

The celebrations will continue on Monday 31 August with the band through the city streets, the procession of the painting towards the Sanctuary and the concert in Piazza Gramsci, in the historic centre of the city of Le Stelle di Hokuto.

The memory of the origins of devotion will be renewed Saturday September 5 with the traditional Historical reenactment of the discovery of the fresco of the Madonna del Pozzo, starting from Cappella del Pozzo, one of the most evocative and symbolic moments of the entire religious calendar.

The celebration will conclude on Sunday, September 6 , with the Octave of the Feast , featuring a Solemn Eucharistic Celebration presided over by Fra' Nicola Violante , Provincial Minister of the Friars Minor, in the presence of civil and religious authorities. In the evening, there will be a musical concert by Game Boy , the final event in a program that combines spirituality, tradition, and popular participation.

For over three centuries the Patronal Feast of the Madonna del Pozzo represents the heart of the identity of Capurso, a heritage of faith and culture that continues to renew itself, attracting thousands of faithful and visitors. The 2026 edition also promises to be a great moment of sharing, capable of combining the profound religious meaning of the celebrations with the value of the popular traditions that have always accompanied devotion to the Madonna del Pozzo.
