The “Great Festival” of the Madonna del Pozzo a Capurso It is celebrated on the last Sunday of August, in memory of the discovery of the effigy of the Madonna which took place in 1705. The feast is preceded by a month of preparation with the novena in the Basilica of the Madonna del Pozzo and begins with a torchlight procession that carries the “Picture” of the Madonna to the center of the town. 

Below are the main events of the “Festa Grande”:

• Lighting of the lights and procession of the painting: Friday, starting from the Chapel in Largo Piscino and arriving in Piazza Umberto I. 
• Solemn celebration in the Basilica: Saturday, with the Offering of Crowns to Our Lady. 
• Procession of the Sacred Image: Sunday, with the Triumphal Chariot and fireworks. 
• Procession of the Painting: Monday, from the Square to the Sanctuary. 

The celebration is very popular, with the participation of pilgrims and "companies of devotees" from various countries, day and night processions, and celebrations in the Basilica.
