He was born in Capurso in 1770 and died there in 1846. He was a notary who practiced in Bari where he used to host scholars and guests who flocked to his home attracted by his rich collection of works – memorabilia – which told the ancient history of his land. ancient papers, the parchments, the codices, the autographs and the six thousand books of D’Addosio were the source of the work “Critical series of the sacred shepherds of Bari", a thousand pages of life history of the bishops of Bari written by Michael Garruba, vicar of the bishop of Clary and great friend of the notary D’Addosio thanks to which he was able to write his work as can be seen from the eighty mentions in the text. Giuseppe D’Addosio It is therefore remembered for the great cultural heritage that it managed to put together: some parchments date back to the 12th century – one in particular by Petracca from Bari, daughter of Giovanni, who declares to have received 400 soldi from Nicola, son of Balsamo, in 1125. The city of Capurso he honored his cultured fellow citizen Giuseppe D’Addosio dedicating the Civic Library to him.
